[Chris]
Little jaunt into town in the morning to explore, including the Saturday farmers' market and weekly 5k Park Run, and then a hike deep into fairy tale woods to see the neglected ruins of Carey's Castle. We accidentally hiked the wrong side of the stream, so we had to cross that.
It's been a dry couple days which is great after a very rainy welcome week. It looks like there will be little rain this week.

| Clonmel's name in Irish, which you would know if you took notes while reading Sam's post from a few days ago. |
| Fresh veggies at the market |
| Romanesco, related to the cauliflower. Can any mathematician see this and not fall in love with the spiral fractals? I'm not sure how I'll cook it though. |
| A model of the original Clonmel, built up by, you guessed it, the Butlers. It's neat to see how it compares to today. The churches (upper left, bottom right) are still there. |
| The view of the historical West Gate arch (far distance) from the original Courthouse. |
| If any mathematicians are still reading, you are going to love the fact that basements are negative numbers. |
| The girls found a cat on the premises that I'm pretty sure is going to be smuggled home. |
| Into the woods, but not too long, towards Carey's Castle. Very magical. |
| Cutey pie |
| Straight out of a fairy tale, or a video game about brother plumbers. |
| Moss everywhere. Almost eerie. |
| Looking down to the other side of the stream. |
| Realizing we were on the wrong side of a surprisingly strong stream. |
.
| Beautiful |
| Too early for senior pictures? |
| Textures |
| L'artiste at work |
| High up in a tree. I hope this is a happy moment for Natalia. |
| The castle ruins right in the middle of the woods, not near anything. Apparently built by schoolmasters in the 1800s. Not much is known. |
| "A number of architectural styles are still evident in the ruined
remains, including; Gothic windows, a Celtic round tower, a Norman Keep,
and both Romanesque and Gothic arches" |
.
| This site was unique in that it was just a local hangout spot where you could have a picnic, or climb walls, or have a bonfire (as long as you are willing to make the hike). No known owner or historical agency is maintaining or regulating it. |
| No, that's not distortion from a 0.5 lens, I've been doing a lot of pushups. But now that I pointed it out, you can't unsee it right? |
